The Aurora Jays and Bolton Brewers squared off Sunday in game four of the North Dufferin Baseball League championship series with the Jays defeating the Brewers 6-3.
The win by Aurora kept their playoff hopes alive, forcing game five Thursday night in Bolton at 7:30 p.m.
Game four was the first loss by the Bolton squad during the first three rounds of this year's playoffs, having won nine straight games.
In Sunday's contest, Bolton plated their first run in the second inning with a lead-off homerun by Steve Warden and quickly followed with another run scored by Adam Wallace. Aurora scored a lone run in their half of the second when Michael Keon crossed the plate.
During the third inning Aurora managed to score four runs off of starter Mike Blackwood before he was replaced by Trent Barwick who let in one more run to make the score 6-2 for the Jays.
Bolton's Brett Chater scored a final run in the seventh inning in the failing effort, losing the game 6-3.
Ian Rettie pitched for the Jays throwing seven innings and allowed three runs, five hits, three walks, hit two batters, while striking out one.
Bolton's Blackwood took the loss with five runs on four hits, four walks, one hit batsmen and two strikeouts. In relief, Barwick tossed three and one third innings and let in one run on three hits and struck out two Jays at the plate.
Game three of the series was played on Sept. 12 under the lights in Bolton. The Brewers won the game 5-2.
Pitching for Bolton was Mark Horan who over seven innings of work kept the Jays at bay conceding two runs on eight hits and fanned two batters.
A shaky defence didn't help starter Ian Milne who threw a complete game for the Jays. Milne was dinged for five runs over six hits, three walks and struck out two.
