The Aurora Jays and Ivy Leafs are tied at two games each in the North Dufferin Baseball League Championship Series.

Games two and three were played at Aurora last Tuesday and Thursday nights with the home team winning both contests 5-3 and 3-2. Game four was played at Ivy on Sunday with Ivy winning 8-4.

Winning pitcher for Aurora in game two was Andrew Bukovec who pitched a complete game giving up three runs on five hits, three walks, hit two batters and had eight strikeouts. Todd Gowan threw for the Leafs and took the loss allowing five runs on ten hits, four walks and fanned two batsmen.

Hits for the Jays went to Chris Bloom, Ian Rettie, Chris Rettie and Ryan Lewis, with Dan Lehmkuhl, Ted Beadle and Jake Pinnegar each recording two hits. Jeremey Uylenbroek, Gowan and Craig Speers logged hits for the Leafs the latter two having two each.

In game three of the series, Brent Owen toed the rubber for Aurora. Over his seven innings of work he conceded two runs on four hits, two hit batters, and had eight strikeouts. Brad Grieveson pitched for the Leafs and surrendered three runs on an uncanny 12 hits while striking out ten.

Ivy hits went to Gowan with a first inning homerun and Mike Kriegizas who doubled and singled twice. Aurora registered hits from Pinnegar, Lewis, and Brad Crosby; a pair of singles from Bloom, Beadle, and Fab Dolan, while Ian Rettie singled three times in the slug-fest.

Game four was originally to be played Saturday, but moved to Sunday due to rain and wet field conditions at Ivy. The change resulted in Aurora missing a couple key members of their squad for the game.

In the first frame, Ivy swiftly scored five runs, including a three run homerun by Uylenbroek, off of starter Ian Milne. Milne went five innings for the Jays, allowing seven runs on five hits and five walks.

The Leafs continued their run production in the second inning scoring two more on a two-run shot by Gowan. They would plate another run in the sixth inning for their eighth.

Aurora pressed the Leafs most of the game scoring four times, two of which came in the second inning from a two-run homerun by Crosby, another run in the third and sixth frames.

The Jays had seven hits recorded by Beadle, Pinnegar, Crosby, Lewis, Rob Wilson and a pair by Chris Rettie. Ivy mustered eight hits from Norm Love, Dave Reid, Gowan, Kriegizas, Brett Elliott and Drew Moore, while Uylenbroek homered and singled.

Owen pitched for Aurora in the sixth inning and let in one run on three hits, walked one and also had one strikeout.

Chad Watters was on the hill for the Leafs and over his seven innings of work allowed four runs, seven hits, and recorded two strikeouts.

The next game is at Aurora on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., followed by game six at Ivy Saturday at 2 p.m., and if necessary game seven at Aurora Sunday at 2 p.m.
