An 8-0 win for the Creemore Barons over the Ivy Rangers in game four of the North Dufferin Baseball League's junior division finals crowned them champions.

The best of five series featured the Barons, who finished second in the six-team junior loop and the Rangers who finished in fourth spot.

Creemore defeated Alliston in three games while Ivy downed Aurora with two wins during first round action.

Game one of the championship series went August 5 and game two on August 6. Both matches were tight with Creemore winning the games 1-0 and 3-2. Game three on August 11 demonstrated why Ivy was in the series, with the Rangers outscoring the Barons 8-1 for their first win and to force a game four.

In the fourth game on August 13, Creemore vanquished the Rangers hopes to stay alive with an 8-0 outing.

In the first inning Creemore's lead off batter Jamie Hanna bunted for a base hit, followed by Josh Wilkins who also bunted for a base hit. Kurt Roy, third in the line-up, stepped to the plate and hit a double scoring both Hanna and Wilkins for an early Barons lead.

Hanna would cross the plate again in the second inning after hitting a double and scoring on a Wilkins single.

Creemore plated one more run in the sixth when Ricky Darrell crossed and added three more in the seventh frame when Bryce Watson, Hanna and Wilkins scored, the latter two on a single from Adam Vander Heyden.

Ivy managed to get runners on base in the first three innings but was unable to capitalize and score. In the fifth frame the Rangers stranded a runner on first and third and in the sixth one on second.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ivy's lead off batter Justin MacTavish was hit by a pitch and eventually made it to second base. Konnor Smith struck out which brought up Riley Davies. Davies lined out to the Creemore first baseman who in turn made the throw to second to catch MacTavish off the base to end the game.

Creemore had singles from Hanna, Darrell, Watson, and Jamie Gillespie. Wilkins and Vander Heyden had two hits each while Kurt Roy and Hanna hit doubles.

Ivy hits went to Smith, Davies, John Malarczyk, Jarrett Vanderpost, and Brett Scott with singles.

Gillespie was on the mound for the Barons giving up five hits, three walks, with one hit batsman, while striking out seven.

Vanderpost pitched for the Rangers allowing eight runs, on ten hits, three walks, and one hit batter, while fanning four.

Scott Anderson, league secretary and junior division convenor, presented the Anderson trophy to Hanna and Roy of Creemore during a post-game presentation. Anderson thanked both teams for an excellent year and tremendous play during the championship series.
