The four remaining junior teams enter the second round of playoffs this week.

The surprise from the first round was the defeat of the first place team, Caledon Nationals, by the last place Creemore Padres.

Creemore had won only one regular season game but took the first game in the playoffs 7-4 and the third game 8-2 to oust the Nationals. Caledon won Game 2, 8-4.

In the Orillia Royals and Midland Twins series, Orillia picked up a first game win 13-8 and advanced after the Twins forfeited the second game as they did not have enough players.

This was Midland's second forfeit of the season and the team has been suspended from the league. If they would like to take part next season the team will have to reapply for admittance.

The Mansfield Cubs won their series over the Barrie Baycats in two games winning 9-6 and 10-0.

The Orangeville Bengals and Georgina Bulldogs series went three games with Georgina picking up a win in the first game 8-1 and the third game 9-7. Orangeville won the second game by a 8-7 score.

Creemore will face Orillia in the second round while Mansfield plays Georgina.

Orillia and Creemore started their series on Tuesday (Aug. 2) with a game in Orillia. After seven innings of play the teams were tied 4-4 which gives them both one point heading into the rest of the series as ties are permitted.

The two teams meet again tonight (Aug. 3) in Creemore at 6:15 p.m. Game 3 is scheduled for Aug. 9 in Orillia for 8 p.m. and then back to Creemore on Aug. 10 at 6:15 p.m. if required.

Georgina travels to Mansfield for the first game on Sunday (Aug. 7) at 5:30 p.m., followed by Game 2 in Georgina on Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Should a Game 3 be needed it will be in Mansfield on Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. followed by the fourth game in Georgina on Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
