Since 1930, the North Dufferin Baseball League (NDBL) has been bringing competitive hardball to communities throughout Central Ontario.
Built on a tradition that spans more than nine decades, the NDBL is one of Ontario's longstanding amateur baseball leagues. From small-town ball diamonds to championship series decided in dramatic fashion, the league has provided generations of players with the opportunity to play the game they love and represent their communities on the baseball diamond.
Today, the NDBL continues that tradition with both Senior and Junior (22U) divisions, bringing together baseball clubs from communities across Dufferin, Simcoe, and Grey counties and York and Peel regions. This unique feature of our geographic reach creates a competitive baseball network that connects communities across Central Ontario.
Over the decades, the NDBL has evolved alongside the communities it represents. Teams have come and gone, new communities have joined, and generations of players have taken their turn on the diamond - but the league's commitment to amateur baseball has remained constant.
The league's history is filled with memorable teams, outstanding players, dedicated coaches, volunteers and incredible fans and supporters who have helped make baseball an important part of our communities.
The NDBL's senior championship trophy, the Strother Cup, is one of the league's most recognizable traditions. Each season, teams compete for the opportunity to add their name to the long list of championship clubs that have competed for the trophy over the decades.
The junior program provides an important bridge between minor baseball and senior-level competition, allowing young players to continue developing their skills while competing against other players from across the region.
Throughout our history, the league has recognized outstanding players, coaches and contributors through a variety of awards and honours. Annual recognition includes individual accomplishments in areas such as batting, pitching, sportsmanship and most valuable player honours. This information is located in yearly stat reports.
The North Dufferin Baseball League has survived generations of change because of the people who believe in local baseball. Players have grown up playing on NDBL diamonds. Families have spent summers at the ballpark. Coaches have passed their knowledge to the next generation. Volunteers have dedicated countless hours to their teams and the league. Communities have celebrated championships together and supported their clubs through difficult seasons.
That is the real history of the NDBL.
